History

I bought a new Gateway G6-400 in New York in 1999. It was delivered to the company I was working for, but nobody told me it had arrived, and it was stolen before I found out. The company replaced it with an identical machine, the current rabelais. It ran Windows 98, then Red Hat 6.0. I brought it to London in January 2000. In November 2002 I installed Debian on it, so it could become the first SocialTools server. In December 2002 it got a new hard disk, which promptly crashed, and was replaced in January 2003 with two new hard disks for RAID. For the current configuration, see ServerConfigRabelais.
