Necessary Skills

Basic knowledge of PC hardware. Ability to install hard disks, memory, etc. Suggested reading:

• PC Hardware in a Nutshell, 3rd Edition, by Barbara Fritchman Thompson and Robert Bruce Thompson.

Familiarity with basic concepts of Internet infrastructure, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, mail delivery, network security, etc. Suggested reading:

• Apache: The Definitive Guide, 3rd Edition, by Ben Laurie and Peter Laurie
• DNS and BIND, 4th Edition, by Paul Albitz and Cricket Liu

Familiarity with basic Linux usage and system administration, particularly using Debian GNU/Linux. Suggested reading:
