in last tuesday meeting (simon,ian,toni) i did the presentation of my idea for writing the tool that would meet our requirements for automatization. It involves perl (language i've choosen), Template Toolkit as templating system (that allows reuse of files that are used often, and thus automatization), ncurses as user interface, and XML as storage. All of these technologies are available for most Unix OS's, most importantly for us, on freebsd and linux. There was an agreement between myself and ian that this is a good plan, but that it won't be possible to finish it for the first phase launch (1st March). However, version with partial functionality might be possible. Also, this is very close to what i had on my mind as Project X when i started working on openmute. I'll provide some intereresting docs from discussions on design that i had with bill hulley and been geer few months ago. This should be a separate free software project, since that provides best model for developing software. All components that we will be using are free software anyway.
